Rain or Shine, Please Join Us June 20-22 For Opa! Fest 2008: A Passport to Greece
Welcome to the 15th Annual Opa! Fest hosted by St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Troy, Michigan! In Greek, philoxenia, means friend (philo) and newcomer or guest (xenos). We graciously extend our hospitality and friendship with warmth and sincerity to you, our guests. There is lots of covered seating, so you can enjoy the food, music and fun rain or shine!
For three fun-filled days the area will be bustling with live Greek music by the Greek Tycoons and traditional folkdances performed by dancers in colorful costumes. You'll also enjoy an abundance of mouth-watering Greek food including such favorites as roast leg of lamb, chicken, dolmathes, pastitsio, spanakopita and Greek salad, kabobs (souvlakia), gyros and sausages. Be sure to stop by the coffee house (Kafenion) for authentic Greek coffee. And everyone's favorite - the pastry booth - will feature a plethora of sweet and delicate homemade Greek pastries.
Simply Wine of Birmingham will be hosting several wine tastings of fabulous Greek wines and notable local Greek chefs will be sharing their secrets of Greek cooking; both are in the Plaka area throughout the weekend.
Opa! Fest is St. Nicholas' largest fund raising event and we sincerely appreciate your support!
